I Hate Hamlet at Confetti Stage

It all began with a text message. It usually does. I was asked to help out with something. I knew it was related to theater, but I didn't know what specifically until I offered my help. My first real encounter with theater was this past semester (Fall '09). I helped out with a show in a local theater, the show being The Ladies Man at Curtain Call Theater. The show is a farce, and my role was to rotate part of the stage during the show, and help out with some backstage- set changes and things. The whole experience was great, I got to see friends more often and get off campus, which is a really good thing. Now I am helping out at Confetti Stage, located in Albany, just a few minutes down the road. The show is I Hate Hamlet, and although I haven't had the opportunity to really sit and watch the show, the parts I have seen/ listened to have been really funny. As was the case last time, I have already met some really cool and interesting people. Being at Siena really closes you to all types of diversity, and while I may be one of the ones who gets exposed to it, it is still refreshing to meet real people (Siena students aren't real people). I am helping out with the sound cues, things like music and buzzers. It is not as physically taxing as the last show, but I still get very nervous- I don't want to screw anything up. The biggest problem is that this really takes up a lot of time that I should be devoting to school and stuff, but it is really more than worth it, and I make it work, somehow. I am really excited to be a part of this show, even if I don't play a very important part- that's kind of how I like it.

As a last note, I think my next post will center around why Siena College = an epic fail. The reason I bring this up is because I can't even publish this post because my internet is down. But I will leave that rant for another time.

Until next time!

Albany Indoor Rockgym (AIR)

We went rock climbing! This morning, after waking up and preparing for the day, I went to go see a movie with the mentoring program. We saw The Spy Next Door, with Jackie Chan. The movie was decent- not the best, but enjoyable to watch. Then it was off to a new rock climbing place! This one is much closer, in Albany, and I highly recommend it. Not only is there climbing, but also caving, which is climbing through these unbelievably dark tunnels that are unbelievably tight. You can't go in unless you fit through this little space, otherwise you will get stuck. I almost got stuck myself- some close calls. It was a very odd experience, much harder to do than you might think, and a lot of fun. I will definitely be returning, it is well worth the twelve dollars (if you have your own equipment) for a whole day of climbing. There are also tons of walls and lots of variety, this place is quite a find.

Also as a side note, the picture is of me. Clearly I look like that naked ;)

Chipmunks/ FU, Penguin

A match made in heaven! FU, Penguin is a book, based on a blog, that I received for Christmas. It is someone, similar to me, who gets pissed off at cute animals, and basically tells them to screw off. It is actually amazing. I also ended up seeing the Chipmunks movie today, which was spectacular. I never expected to enjoy it so much, but I loved every second of it. What made it even better was that the only other person in the theater- aside from m friend Rachel and myself- was a middleish aged bald man sitting by himself. He laughed a lot, and talked to himself about the movie. CREEP! Seeing the movie reminded me of watching the chipmunks as a kid. Not only were the songs cute and adorable, if slightly high pitched, but the re-emergence of the Chipettes was amazing. I am Simon, and I love Jeanette and Elinore, the leaders kind of piss me off. Well that's all for tonight- read FU, Penguin and see The Chipmunks!

It Lives!

tada!! Here it is, my shiny new blog. O_o

I don't know what I'm going to talk about on my new blog quite yet, but I guarantee it will be good once I decide. I'll probably go the original route and write about whatever I feel like, whenever I feel like, and call it a blog. In case you couldn't tell, I really like typing the word blog. blog blog blog. I posted a picture, painted by Yves Tanguy, I saw it at the Met. I figured it would add something to the blog. Well I guess that's all for now, maybe I will get some divine inspiration later on in the day, but until then, see ya later!
